Join us for Cultural Talks on the dances and regions for the dances we are studying this season.

- Dabke line dance from Palestine (Nov. 7, 2025)
- Rembetiko from 1930s Greece (Feb. 15, 2026)
- Zeybek from western Turkey (Jan. 11, 2026)
- Bashkir dances from southern Russia (Apr. 19, 2026)
- Kereshme style from pre-revolutionary urban Iran (July 31, 2026)
- Tanovar dance from Uzbekistan (Aug. 30, 2026)

3) Sept 6-7 and 20-21 - online
4) Oct. 25-26 - SF Bay Area
5) Nov. 8-9 - Seattle

7) March 7-8 - SF Bay Area
8) March 21-22 - Seattle
9) July 4-5, SF Bay Area
10) Aug. 1-2 - Seattle
11) Sept. 12-13 - location TBA
Oct. 30-31 - Nov. 1 show in San Jose
Nov. 5 - 7 shows in Seattle
Units 1-3 focus on the basic building blocks and characteristics of each dance style. with little or no choreography, as well as music analysis and dance notation. It is possible to participate in the first 3 Units without committing to the whole project.
Over the course of the project we will have 7 Cultural Talks, one for each region chosen. The Cultural Talks are always accessible online and are available to the larger community beyond project members. Just go to the homepage and register. There is also a large library of recordings of past cultural talks.
We would love to have you come join our amazing global community of women! ANAR DANA is for everybody from amateur to professional, from young to old. We support beginning dancers and challenge experienced ones. Our community of dancers reflects the dance of real people in real communities, where everyone dances. ANAR DANA is rooted in tradition and blossoming in YOU!
